Event Overview

DMEXCO is the business event for advertisers, digital professionals, marketers and agency representatives, with a clear focus on communication, information, transaction initiation and completion and is considered to be Europe’s top event for digital business, marketing and innovation. Taking place at Koln-Messe in Cologne, Germany it attracts over 40,000 visitors featuring 1000 exhibitors from 40 countries including Google, Adobe and Facebook. 

The Brief

We worked with our client and their designer to build a unique two-storey 18mx20m exhibition stand for Facebook at the two-day exhibition. Envisaging 40,000 visitors over 2 days meant that the stand had to offer multiple spaces, engage visitors and provide the perfect platform for Facebook’s message.

Solution

The design was bold. Using a variety of materials and techniques it offered 6 meeting room spaces, each with their own individual look and feel to include vinyl and foamex graphics applied onsite and sustainable materials, whilst event production included sound, lighting, video and content surfacing through various screens – all finished with frosted glass doors.

The main space hosted a 95” screen fixed to a hidden truss upright and centre stage for content impact and a focal point for theatre style seating.

Each room featured 49” screens and various activation areas included 49” screens installed for directional signage and content. Set up that when screens holding content then visitors were able to plug in and it would automatically switch to their content.

The front of the exhibition stand provided an interactive ‘Story Wall’ which featured 10 screens of 24” 32” 40” & 55” which displayed one image across the whole surface using a D3 server via a purpose-built App. An iPad was used to playback ‘stories’ which visitors could journey through. Once a story was selected the content would transform and display individual content before returning to the holding image.

An ‘Anti-gravity Room’ was also created as a digital photo opportunity. All elements in the room were fixed to the wall at 90degree angles and were sprayed to match the gradient of the background artwork and LED tape was fitted around the front edge of the box.
